croupier, dealer, stickman

A “croupier” is primarily a European term, referring to the casino game attendant responsible for managing the betting and game actions of table games, especially in roulette and some card games. In blackjack, poker, and other card games, the term “dealer” is more common, denoting the person who deals cards and manages bets. In craps, the “stickman” is the casino employee who uses a long stick to handle dice, announcing the results of rolls and enticing players to make bets. While “croupier” and “dealer” can sometimes be used interchangeably in certain settings, “stickman” is specific to craps. Regional variations exist, with “croupier” being more prevalent in European casinos and “dealer” in American ones.
